Citigroup Inc.
In an effort to further diversify my investments, I chose Citigroup from the banking sector. I hastily checked the stats of the company, but didn't reseach the latest developments of Citigroup or the banking industry.
Due to my incomplete research of Citigroup, by the time I sold the bulk of my ownership, I lost over $150. My remaining shares saw a slight increase, riding the positive news of Abu Dhabi's $7.5 Billion investment in the company. Had I performed more extensive research, I would have recognized Citigroups volatile management and inconsistent leadership.
